My story
Γεια σου !
I’m Effie! I am a Greek language teacher to foreigners for more than twenty years! I believe that learning languages is the most beautiful window to other cultures and the best way to meet people. I have taught people with very different backgrounds, such as expatriates and immigrants, professionals in international organizations, business executives, and primary school students with an immigrant background.
I’m a graduate in Greek language and literature from the University of Crete. In 2014, I obtained a Master’s degree with distinction in Adult Education from the Hellenic Open University. In 2021, I graduated from the master's program "Human Resources Management" at Alba Graduate Business School, part of the American College in Greece. I have obtained many other certifications both for teaching Greek as a foreign language and for teaching adults.
I'm the author of a book entitled “Γνωρίζω την Ελλάδα" [“Getting to Know Greece”] (Anatolikos Publications 2022). The book is in simple Greek aimed at foreigners learning the language and is especially useful those who want to prepare for the Greek citizenship exams (P.E.G.P.). Since 2009, I have been participating as an examiner and as marker in the exams organized by the General Secretariat for Vocational Education, Training and Lifelong Learning for third-country nationals who are interested in applying for long-term resident status.

Preparation guide for the Greek citizenship exams (P.E.G.P.)
My book "Γνωρίζω την Ελλάδα" [“Getting to Know Greece"] (ed. Anatolikos 2022) is a study guide for the Greek citizenship exams (P.E.G.P.).
It presents in simple Greek the most important aspects of Greek history, culture, politics, economy and social life, as well as those people who played an important role in shaping the country's identity. The reader can gain information on various topics around Greece and better understand "philotimo" ("sense of honor") and the Greek way of life.
The book helps you to understand the most important historical events presented in chronological order starting from the eighth century BC to the modern era. It also explains the reasons why Greek culture remains so dynamic and creative, seen through literature, music, art and cinema.
Knowledge of these topics helps foreigners better understand the Greek reality and provides the necessary background for those who want to prepare for the Greek citizenship exams.
